Skate Your Way Around Bend

Roller Skating & Skate Parks

Bend is known to most of the world as a mecca for outdoor sports, but there are many other opportunities to get active. Grab your deck and head over to the outdoor skate park in south central Bend, or the indoor skate park that caters to younger skaters.

Ponderosa Skate Park is located on the grounds of Ponderosa Park. Watch the best skaters in town ollie off the pyramid, dip into one of the three bowls or ride the flat box at this popular outdoor destination.

Bearings Skateboard Academy is an indoor skateboard training facility with staff that provides one-on-one instruction and group program. Check out Cubicle, their onsite skateboard pro shop for all your gear. Watch for change in location to a larger facility coming soon.  If you were a part of Truck Stop Skatepark, then you’ll have a blast at Bearings.

Roller skating in Bend has recently become a popular spectator sport. The Lava City Roller Dolls are a group of women ages 18 to 44 who compete in roller derby competitions inspired by the popular sport of the 1970s. Dressed in a mix of camouflage and lingerie, the women are as much athletes as actresses, as they race around the rink in teams of five. For many Bend locals, watching these ladies’ unique display of exhibitionism and sportsmanship has become as much about the entertainment as the competition. Check the dolls website for dates and times of local roller derbies.
