ATV riding and dirt biking have long been part of Bend’s outdoor sports scene, with most of the action taking place on trails east of town in the Millican Valley during the winter months, and down south in the spring and summer months where higher elevations mean less dust and moist dirt. There are thousands of miles of well-marked trails in the Bend, Oregon area that attract riders from all over the west seeking drier terrain. East Fort Rock OHV Area is also nearby and is one of the top rated riding areas in the United States.

Between Sisters and Redmond, Oregon you’ll find popular dirt bike trail riding and a staging area with access to miles and miles of high desert terrain off Buck Horn Rd behind the Eagle Crest Resort called Cline Butte recreation area. There’s even a small motocross track near the gravel pit area. If you head north toward Madras to the Henderson Flat OHV area you’ll experience 18 miles of much steeper terrain in the Crooked River Grasslands. The views are spectacular, and the trails can be fairly narrow. This area can be closed to trail riding from time to time due to migrating animals.

If you’re into motocross track riding, you’ll find the Madras Speedway offering a public track in Central Oregon. Motocross racing and practice take place every Saturday from 12-5 pm. The Central Oregon Adventure Park offers motocross, ATV, biking (mountain and BMX biking), hiking, and archery at their outdoor park.
