Mountain Biking in Bend

No Matter How You Roll, Bend Has Trails to Suit Your Style

Once you arrive, you’ll see why Mountain Bike Action magazine named Bend, Oregon the best Mountain Bike Town in the country. With over 500 miles of maintained singletrack trails, a world-class downhill mountain bike park, and trails that are just minutes from town, you’ll easily find your perfect ride.

With so much sweet, flowy, and epic dirt, many riders won’t be able to cover it all in a lifetime. Thanks to Central Oregon Trail Alliance (known around here as COTA), their members, business supporters, and trail-building grants, our meticulously maintained trails cater to riders of all abilities and disciplines. Classic rides like the Phil’s Trail network offer friendly terrain to families, those getting on dirt for the first time, or if you’re looking for a fun and flowy introductory ride to the area.

For a lift-served downhill MTB experience, check out Mt. Bachelor’s Bike Park. You’ll find lift-serve access to miles of downhill trails from machine and hand-built routes to trails that cater to first-timers and well-versed gravity junkies. Mt. Bachelor bike park is a must for some wicked DH fun. For hours of operation, bike safety equipment checklist, and lift ticket prices, go to Mt. Bachelor’s website.

Not only is mountain biking a top reason why people travel to Bend in the summer, but weather depending, it’s becoming a year-round sport. When the snow starts to pile up, why not try fat biking? Wanoga Sno-Park has two groomed fat bike loops beginning January 1st. And if the white stuff is on the lite side, then head out east for some sweet single track winter riding in the high desert.

Bend Bike Shops and Shuttles

Because Bend is an MTB mecca, there are plenty of local bike shops offering rentals, repairs, and service, and all the gear and local intel you need to get hooked and on the trails. Some shops offer seasonal women’s and group rides if you need a riding buddy.

Looking for a shuttle or a lesson? Cog Wild provides shuttles, tours, and instruction. Be sure to book ahead; these folks are popular.

If you’ve got your bike, and you’re confident in your abilities, head over to the Central Oregon Trail Alliance website or Bendtrails to get the lay of the land, and plan your route. Once you’re done, pat yourself on the back and reward yourself with a Central Oregon brew. If you want to sharpen up your skills, consider a lesson or clinic with Grit Clinics or Ladies AllRide.
